JW's and government
by Granny Linda inmy jw sister works for the postal service, wearing the uniform and driving one of their mail trucks.
not only do i think this is hypocritical given the jw stance on government, it pisses me off each time i go to the post office and read the stupid sign about postal employees and federal crimes blah blah blah - like, what makes them so much more important than any other working person.. anyhow this has been bugging me for some time and i'd really like to confront her one day about wearing a symbol of the government, but i doubt i'll ever have the chance.
gawd, i detest those phoney people.. gl.

Remembering
by Granny Linda ini spoke with my elderly aunt yesterday about much of what i've read over this past week...catching up on the best of series...well, some of it anyhow; and her comments echoed much of what many former jw's have already spoken of.. she reminded me how many years ago when her one grandchild needed a blood transfusion and her daughter had called in a panic...my aunt simply told her to do what she felt for best for the child - not the church.
or, the sometimes humerous stories of field service - the dreaded thought that someone might actually answer their door.
my aunt releated how her own father had once asked if she wanted to "pioneer" and when my aunt told him, "no" my grandfather had the most shocked look on his face.

JW family
by Granny Linda init seems that after many years of no contact with my elderely jw mom, she and my older sister will be dropping by to see me here in colorado.
funny, the sister that doesn't speak to me lives a few short miles from where i just relocated to, and they plan a visit with her.
so, my eldest sis called to see if it would be ok to bring mother by.

Being JW did not make me a better person...
by Granny Linda inno, it wasn't that group of people who showed me what life is about.
hell, their so busy preparing to die that it seems life eludes them.
it was by becoming an active participant in my own adventure.

Are we obligated to JW family?
by Granny Linda inwhile reading through and posting in unbeliever's thread, this topic came to mind.
personally i do not have any sense of obligation to jw family that still holds to such dogma.
that means it doesn't matter to me that my mother ignores her grandson; and her great-grandchildren.

Life apart from JW's.
by Granny Linda innot sure where all this rambling i'm going to do will end up, but i'm sure there will be words reminding myself how grateful i am for recovery from religious abuse.
some may remember i orginally came aboard sites such as this doing research for a fence-riding jw sibling.
after years of no contact we were able to begin anew.
